Heather Hobbs

Heather has always had a passion for helping others. She started out as a social worker and was working toward a Master’s in Social Work until she became pregnant with her first child. This resulted in a medical leave due to high risk pregnancy and after her son’s birth, she found breastfeeding to be quite difficult. Heather required extra help when she had to have invasive back surgery at five months post-partum. This made breastfeeding even more trying, which led to her career change. Heather’s ultimate goals were to educate and assist other new parents to breastfeed successfully, and avoid the various issues she had experienced personally.

Heather did her clinical lactation internship at Shady Grove Medical Center, where she gained experience in Mother Baby, NICU and outpatient settings. She became an IBCLC in 2013, and has done in home consults since. She is also a Newborn Care Specialist. Heather’s passion for helping others has grown exponentially by not only helping; but advocating, educating, and supporting the breastfeeding family. Heather and her husband live in Damascus, MD with their three children.
